Small Groups

Small Group Vision

To connect people in community where they can continue to grow each other to maturity in Christ, striving to be continually transformed by getting to know God and each other, serving the Church and reaching the lost.

Why do we need small groups?

At Wantirna Christian Community Church (WCCC) we firmly believe that God wants us to experience LIFE together – the bible calls this fellowship. We experience this only through authentic relationships – with God and each other: By meeting together we can initiate and foster spiritual growth, community and friendship. We can share our highs and lows, pray for one another, share faith journeys together, and ultimately feel more a part of the wider church community – this, we would hope is a strong desire for everyone at WCCC.

The potential of Small Groups to make a valuable contribution to our lives and the life of the wider Church community is immeasurable.

What is a Small Group?

A “small group” generally comprises 5-10 people who meet regularly in a relaxed environment to discuss God’s Word and support one another. There are several dimensions to small group life that hopefully all members will experience and participate in, these being:

Love… We express love to God through prayer, worship and praise. Learn… As we open the Bible we learn about Jesus and his will for our lives.

Serve… Serving is part of following Jesus together. Each group will decide how to express Christian love to our community or within the church family

Reach… We want our groups to be places where others can ask questions about Jesus and meet some of his followers.

Why join a small group?

Small Groups are an integral part of our church here at Wantirna.

As well as mixed adult groups, there are groups for new Christians, young adults, ladies, youth as well as groups with a short / long term special focus learning. For example: marriage enrichment, evangelism, raising children, etc.

Small Group Multiplication

Part of the Small Group ministry at WCCC is also about making more small groups by working through a process of mutually agreed multiplication. This can be achieved in a variety of different ways.

Small Group Values

Every small group is unique, having its own style and format. There are however, some underlying core values that should be common to all small groups at WCCC – these being:

  • Affirmation
  • Availability
  • Prayer
  • Openness
  • Accountability
  • Confidentiality
  • Sensitivity
  • Honesty
  • Evangelism
  • Multiplication

How do I join a Small Group?

There are many small groups at WCCC – hopefully you can see yourself slotting into one somehow. If you want more specific information about which group may be suitable for you, please contact the Small Groups Coordinator.
